As part of his annual visit to the West Midlands, ICE President Professor Jim Hall joined a panel of industry professionals for an engaging discussion on the delivery of a new generation of infrastructure.

The event focused on the critical role of systems engineering – a multidisciplinary approach that ensures the successful design, integration, and management of complex systems across their entire lifecycle. The panel explored how this methodology helps infrastructure projects meet their intended goals efficiently and sustainably.
The discussion attracted a diverse audience, including civil engineering students and ICE members of all grades, as well as contractors, designers, and consultants actively working in the infrastructure sector.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to gain insights from leading voices in the field and highlighted the importance of integrated thinking in shaping the future of infrastructure development.
