Dr. Stergios Mitoulis, founder of the bridgeUkraine Alliance, hosted a strategic meeting with academics from the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University (KhNAHU) to explore future collaboration in areas critical to Ukraine’s sustainable development and infrastructure resilience.

The meeting focused on advancing joint research in sustainable and resilient energy systems, with in-depth discussions around current and emerging topics such as AI-controlled smart grids, structural challenges in renewable infrastructure, and innovative solutions for climate hazard adaptation.
Key themes included:
- Smart cities and energy-efficient urban planning
- Renewable energy integration into national systems
- Advanced energy technologies
- Infrastructure resilience in the context of climate change and post-crisis recovery

The exchange highlighted the strong alignment of both sides in their vision for innovation-driven recovery and long-term sustainability in Ukraine. Importantly, many promising areas for collaboration were identified, particularly in the context of joint applications for Horizon Europe grants and other international funding programmes aimed at fostering research, development, and innovation in Ukraine.
